This important area of the church's ministry offers comfort and reassurance at a time of sadness and loss. We pray with and for the family, and remember the deceased in the prayers of the church.
It is possible to arrange a funeral service in any of the churches or to have a service organised at a crematorium, or to do both. The Vicar can make arrangements, usually at the request of an undertaker. They organise to meet with next-of-kin to agree a form of service and ceremony, with suitable hymns and music, to remember and give thanks for the life of the deceased. It is important to be able to sit down with an individual or family group to consider what might be right and appropriate for the person who has moved on to be with God in a new and different way.
The Vicar is also available to assist any individual in making suitable outline arrangements for their own funeral. This is often a relief to them and helps family and friends when the time comes. Notes can be provided for those who will need to use them.
